COVID-19 An Update Regarding Our Protocols
Thursday, March 19th, 2020
We recognize that with the ever-changing COVID-19 situation in our world, this is a crazy time for everyone. It is a time that for many, is filled with uncertainty and anxiety. Our thoughts and prayers are with each and every person that may be facing difficulties, as well as our nation’s leaders and those on the front lines.
We want you to know that our commitment to provide you with the services you depend on still stands strong. We are constantly monitoring the current guidelines of our state and local governments, CDC and OSHA to stay up to date on the latest protocols for our industry.
For the safety of everyone involved, you can expect the following questions when you call our office to set up an estimate:
- Has anyone in the household traveled outside the country in the last month (this is to be updated every week).
- Has anyone in the household had flu like symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, temperature 100.4 by oral thermometer) in the last month. (Updated every week).
- Does anyone in the household have a respiratory or cardiac medical condition, diabetes, immune deficiencies, is pregnant, or have underlying illnesses?
- Is anyone in the household over the age of 65?
- Has anyone in the household tested positive for Covid-19, or been advised to self- quarantine?
In addition, our staff will follow the most current CDC/OSHA based guidelines:
- Workers will stay home if they feel sick. Under no circumstances should a worker go to a job site if the worker feels sick.
- Any worker with symptoms of acute respiratory illness (fever, cough and/or shortness of breath) must stay home and not visit or return to a job site until they are free of fever (100.4 degrees or greater using an oral thermometer), signs of a fever, and any other symptoms for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing or other symptom-altering medicines (e.g., Tylenol, aspirin, cough suppressants, etc.).
- If a homeowner or other occupant at a job site exhibits or reports symptoms of acute respiratory illness (fever, cough and/or shortness of breath), the contractor should immediately report the situation to the home office. All work should be handled in accordance with CDC and OSHA guidelines pertaining to worker exposure to sick persons.
- Workers must clean their hands often by either washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or by using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60-95% alcohol.
- Workers should cover their nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, the tissue should be immediately discarded in a waste basket and the worker should wash their hands with soap and water. If the worker does not have a tissue available, they should cough or sneeze into their upper sleeve, not their hands.
Our Employees are also adhering to the following:
- Do not shake hands
- Keep 6 feet of space between you and other people.
- Wipe down the surface around your workspace prior to working.
- Gloves, masks and shoe covers (PPE) will be used as needed.
- Onsite Employees at Testerman Restoration will be required to wear a face cover and/or mask while working indoors on job sites.
- Every Employee will wash hands with antibacterial soap/hand sanitizer when arriving at the office or worksite, and several times throughout the day (after using the restroom and before eating, etc..).
- Every employee will wipe down their workspace every daily (phones, computers, vehicles, tools etc..).
Office staff work from home -especially if you have a medical condition, immune deficiency, or underlying issue.
We realize as more specific guidelines take effect, these standards may change. In a continued abundance of caution, we will further monitor the CDC and OSHA website links to track changes and/or updates to CDC and OSHA guides. We will also continue to consult relevant local and/or state resources for additional information regarding workplace safety, and take every precaution necessary to keep our employees, customers and clients healthy.
